Week 9 - Sunday 26th Nov

Today ive spent relaxing after clearing up my house. My party - '90's Rave' went really well. Turn out was good and there was a good selection of rave style clothes - a few Acid t.shirts and plenty of U.V attire, which is, lets face it a huge must for any rave.... I decorated my house with U.V smiley faces, teamed with my smoke machine it looked absolutely amazing. Everybody got wasted and i didnt go to bed till about 10am sunday morning.
I designed and made mine & Mirandas outfits which i think were pretty cool. I'll be wearing it to Global Gathering next year!

Week 9 - T.Shirt transfers

This week i have managed to play around with the transfers. Its looking really good - im enjoying changing the colour of the skull, its so easy which is a great design feature. It means that the skull can be easily changed giving the customer a choice. For example, if i had a website i could have a drop down menue where the customer could choose what colour skull they wanted, which means that the design will appeal to a wider range of customers. Ive been printing on Jersey cotton, which is a great t.shirt fabric - ive got red and black to work with because this is my fabric colour pallet ive decided to go for. But i thought id use red, white and grey skulls to add a little variety. Im feeling pleased with how my work has progressed, my designs are strong - I think that over Christmas i'll be making myself some of them!

This week Sarrina emailed me along with all the other final years, asking if anyone wanted help with their projects. She's looking into sourcing products, models and genrally helping develop a good show for the final term. I wouldnt mind someone to help with my show - things like finding the objects i want my models to hold (im desperate for a pink flamingo!!), and finding my models. i want them all to be just mine as my outfits require certail hair and makeup - i cannot share models because of this. Anyway, i told her that i wouldnt mind the help and she laughed at my pink flamingo obsession but i think shes interested. Fingers crossed you can buy pink flamingos from somewhere!!!

Tonight im staying in to prepare for a party im hosting this weekend. Its themed, (as always) '90's RAVE'. Im making mine and my friend Mirandas outfits, so i best get my design head on and start thinking smiley faces and flashing dummies!

Week 8 - progress / blog update

Ive spent most of the past few days doing my RSA project - its becomming more directional and developed now. Ive created samples with bleach and have scanned the favourite one into my Pc, manipulated it by changing the gradient and contrast on Photoshop & have printed it onto t.shirt printing paper. Ive had to order a new packet off the net of black t.shirt print as i only have one sheet left & i feel i'll be needing more than that to finish my boards.

Anyway, my Alice project is ok, i have been using my scanner collecting inspiration from books. Im trying this week to get most my RSA done so ill have more time to browse in the library for inspiration.

Tomorrow im going to play with t.shirt transfers more and finish off my designs i started today, and thursday im hoping to get a pattern done for the garment i want to make - im thinking t.shirt or skirt maybe with a net tulle underskirt??

The pix i have put on for today are the different stages of the skull picture im working with has been at -
the first one batiked bleach onto cotton.
the second is it scanned into Photoshop & altered it with curves.
the third is it in its final stage - altered so its clear black and white, ready for printing off onto t.shirt print paper & ironing onto my fabrics.

Week 7 - Blog Update

This week for Reasearch & Planning we had a lesson on the computers using Illistrator. We used exsisting garment drawings to manipulate and change into our own garments (seen in the entry before this one). I did a skirt & a top. The lesson was fairly useful, i like the idea of having exsisting spec drawings on a pc and then changing them as this saves time. I think ill be looking into this when im creating my spec sheets... definately be saving any garments i draw onto my pc!! this week ive genrally collected information abut Alice in Wonderland, i bought the DVD so will be watching that closeley for inspiration one night. I decided i really like the disney interpritation of the characters - they're so bright and funny... and with a fetish twist the outfits will be eye-catching and interesting. Im glad im not taking the Goth fashions into to much consideration - too much black for a collection such as this if you ask me!!

RSA - this is comming along, i dont feel enthusiastic yet...im still unsure what im doing... i have spoken to my teachers and have been looking around for ideas. I hope it will fall onto place soon as its getting closer to deadlines and i dont want to have to rush it.

CRITICAL STUDY - Myessays never really come along until the last minute anyway so although its in my mind that i need to do some work im not stressing too much. I have a few books that im selecting information out of and have spent time in the library this week (which is new for me if im honset!) So im hoping my grade wont suffer to badly with this one.

Week 7 - Blog Update

The past couple of days over the weekend i have spent sorting out the images for my alice project - i bought a scanner Saturday to aid me with taking inspirational picturers from books and magazines whilst at home.

I also got my photos back from whitby and have stuck all my research into my RSA sketchbook. I can see my direction more now ive done that & feel like its going to come together OK.

Ive also played with bleach this weekend - found black cotton actually looks great when bleached with just a normal Asda toilet bleach. I bought a Tanjanting tool on Friday off Ebay for £5. Hopefully it will come soon & i can try bleaching with it and maybe fabric dye, although i do like the bleach effect quite alot.
